These databases are differentiated from full text databases that, in addition to indexing and providing abstracts, also include some or all full text of the journal articles.

The ISBN identifies the registrant, specific title, edition and format. ISBN-13 and ISBN-10 correspond to an ISBN with 13 digits and an ISBN with 10. ISSN: International Standard Serial Number is an 8-digit code used to identify newspapers, journals, magazines and periodicals of all kinds and on all media - print and electronic.

LOC: Library of Congress Numbers, not to be confused with the Library of Congress (LC) classification, are unique identifiers for the Library of Congress system. Older books that do not have an ISBN may have a LOC number.
