In May 2023, the Director of Library Services proposed the Open Access Protocol to the Provost Council. In June 2023, the Open Access Protocol was unanimously passed by the Provost Council, which includes program deans.
As of July 2023, all ACHE authors are encouraged to publish their research in a legitimate, open access journal and adopt the Open Access Protocol. Protocols like this are adopted by research institutions, research funders, and government agencies to make their published work available to everyone. This Open Access Protocol is a commitment to disseminate research globally and equitably. To encourage everyone to publish in open access journals, the Library, with support of the Provost Office, has created an Open Access Fund. The fund is overseen by the Research and Grants Committee.
