Earn CME Using Library Resources

Continuing Medical Education (CME) is offered through some of the Library's resources. Click on the resource link or scroll down this page to learn about how to earn and claim CME.

AccessMedicine CME

About AccessMedicine CME

American Medical Association (AMA) PRA Category 1 CME Credits are offered in accordance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association (IPMA) and McGraw-Hill Education.

Each structured point-of-care search is designated for 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. There is no limit to the number of credits users can receive.

 

Sign in to or Register for your FREE MyAccess Profile

In order to earn CME credits, you must be signed into your MyAccess profile.

Sign up for a free MyAccess profile by visiting AccessMedicine's website either while you are on campus or via this link.

1. Click on "Arkansas Colleges of Health Education" in the upper right hand corner.

2. Select "Sign in or Create a Free MyAccess Profile".

3. Fill out the form and click "Create Profile". You will receive an email confirming your registration.

 

How to Earn CME

  1. Choose a resource that is CME eligible. Titles that are eligible have an icon and "Eligible for CME" in the upper right corner of the table of contents page. Or you can search in the books library for all titles that are eligible (see screenshot here).

  2. After 15 seconds of evaluating the content, CME will be unlocked and it will appear as an icon at the top of the resource (see screenshot here).

 

How to Claim CME

  1. Click on the CME icon and assign the content to a clinical query. You may continue to browse the content.

  2. When you are finished, navigate to your MyAccess profile and select "My CME" to finish the process.

  3. Click "Earn CME Credit", which takes you to a brief questionnaire. The questionnaire will ask general questions about the nature of your clinical query.

  4. Once the questionnaire is completed, the credits can be claimed immediately or saved for up to one year.

ClinicalKey CME

About ClinicalKey CME

Internet Point of Care CME credit is provided by the Elsevier Office of Continuing Medical Education (EOCME) for self-directed, structured, online learning. The EOCME is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).

Physicians may earn 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit or 0.5 Medical Knowledge MOC Points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. There is no limit to the number of Internet point-of-care searches that physicians may complete using ClinicalKey. The maximum number of Internet point-of-care AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ credits you can claim in one year is 20. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

ClinicalKey has been approved by the American Osteopathic Association for AOA Category 2-B Credit.

Sign up for a free ClinicalKey account by visiting ClinicalKey's website either while you are on campus or via this link.

1. Click on "Register" in the upper right hand corner.

2. Fill out the form (use your ACHE/ARCOM email) and click "Register".

3. You will receive an email confirming your registration.

 

How to Earn CME

1. Identify a clinical question relevant to your practice.

2. Perform a search in ClinicalKey to answer your clinical question.

3. Access the most relevant book, journal, or Clinical Overview content, and your search will be automatically recorded as “Potential CME.”

 

How to Claim CME

1. When you are ready to claim your CME credit, click on the CME link.

2. On the left navigation panel, under "Potential Credits" select "Claim Credit". Filter by the timeframe you would like to review. Find the “Query” for which you would like to claim credit and select "Claim". In a pop-box, selected what you "Searched For" and the "Applied Use". Scroll down to the bottom of the page and select "Submit".

3. Review your Credit Details, answer the evaluation questions and click “Submit”. Certificates can then be viewed and/or printed.

 

How to Claim MOC Credits

1. On the CME/MOC Credits Dashboard, select "Manage Boards" and add your board information.

2. After successful submission of CME credits as described above, click the “Submit these credits for MOC” button to start the MOC submission process.

3. If you’d like to submit for MOC at a later date, click the “Submit for MOC” button on the CME/MOC dashboard to start the MOC submission process.

UpToDate CME

About UpToDate CME

UpToDate is accredited and recognized as a continuing education resource by colleges, associations, and authorities from around the world. For a full list, go to UpToDate CME/CE/CPD Accreditations. CME/CE/CPD credit is not available with individual subscriptions purchased at trainee rates. Exclusions may also apply to selected subscription types in some areas.

Subscribers can select from AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ (3-step learning cycle) or other credit offerings to fulfill a variety of continuing education requirements for clinicians around the world. As long as your subscription remains active, credits may be redeemed for up to two years (unless otherwise noted) from the time the activity was completed. Credits that were redeemed for a credit certificate are saved for the length of your UpToDate subscription.

In order to earn CME credits, you must be signed into your UpToDate account.

Sign up for a your UpToDate account by visiting www.uptodate.com/online.

1. Select "Log in with OpenAthens".

2. On the OpenAthens "Find your institution" page, type in and select "Arkansas Colleges of Health Education (ACHE)".

3. Select your status from OpenAthens "Choose how to sign in" menu.

  • Students, faculty, and staff are directed to the ACHE Federation Services website.
  • Residents and affiliated users are directed to the ACHE OpenAthens website.

4. Once signed in, complete the registration. 

 

How to Earn CME

1. Identify a clinical question relevant to your practice and perform a search in UpToDate to research and answer your question.

2. Credits are accrued as you search. At the top right, you will see the total amount of credits you have accrued.

3. Search based CME requires a reflection. You can do so at the moment you wish to redeem multiple credits, or as you perform your searches.

 

How to Claim CME

1. When you are ready to claim your CME credits, click on the CME total at the top right.

2. Choose "Select Credits". You can choose a set number (10, 25, 50), or select the number individually. Then complete the reflections for each credit.

3. Certificates can be viewed and/or downloaded. You can set up for redeemed credits to be automatically sent to selected boards.
