Creating an ORCID iD is free of charge for researchers.
It is recommended to create a PERSONAL ACCOUNT. Please note ACHE currently does not have an institutional account with ORCID.
Step 1 - Register
Register for an ORCID iD at orcid.org. Click on "SIGN IN/REGISTER" in the upper right hand corner.
Per ORCID's terms and conditions, you may only register for an ORCID iD for yourself.
Fill out the ORCID iD form and then click "Register". After completing the registration, you will receive an email to verify your account. Once your account is verified, click on "SIGN IN/REGISTER" in the upper right hand corner.
Once you have registered, your ORCID iD will look similar to this: orcid.org/0000-1234-5678-9012.
Please note: if you think you may already have an ORCID iD, but don't know the number or have multiple ORCID iDs please contact ORCID support.
Step 2 - Add content to your iD
Go to "My ORCID Record" under the "For Researchers" tab to start importing your works and adding them to your record. You can also manually enter personal information, educational background, grant awards, and works to your profile. Adding these things will increase the usefulness of your profile for others who wish to determine what work you have done in the past.
Check out the iDs of ACHE faculty below for examples on how to build your profile.

*Important*
At this time, NIH, AHRQ, and CDC encourage prospective applicants for individual fellowship and career development awards to create and connect their ORCID iD to their eRA Commons Personal Profile.
