FAQs

When will I have access to Taylor Health Sciences Library resources and services?

Once you have been accepted as an affiliated user, the library will be notified to create an OpenAthens account with the email you provided during the application process. What resources are available to affiliated users?

Affiliated users have access to a wide range of resources offered by the Library.

From the Library homepage, you can use the ACHE Discovery Search to search through our databases, catalogs, and digital collections. This includes those not in our collection so you can discover materials beyond the library and request them through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). You'll also find useful Subject Guides, as well as A-Z lists of ebooks, journals, and databases. The database list will note exceptions to access based on patron status.

Access to Resources

Instructions for activating your OpenAthens account.

Taylor Health Sciences Library has migrated to OpenAthens, an authentication service that improves security and access control of library resources, reduces service interruptions, integrates with the institutions' single sign-on (SSO) services, and provides usage data.

Once we create an OpenAthens account, an activation email is sent from OpenAthens. Please check your spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox. Follow the instructions in the email to create your password. You can log in with your email address or your OpenAthens username.

Once you have finished setting up your account, you can access the resources on the library’s website: https://library.achehealth.edu/ or directly from a vendors' websites. Just look for OpenAthens, and choose as your institution Arkansas Colleges of Health Education or ACHE.

There is no login portal to the library website. Instead, you are prompted for access when you select a resource.

For example, when you are on this page: https://library.achehealth.edu/program-do3-4 and select CURRENT Medical Diagnosis and Treatment, you will see this prompt:

  • If you are a Resident and/or Affiliated user then choose “Residents and Affiliated Users”, and sign on.
  • If you are an ACHE Student, Faculty, and/or Staff user then choose "Students, Faculty, Staff", then you will be prompted to sign on using your ACHE credentials.

Once you have completed this step, then you can access UpToDate. See the instructions below.

If you have any questions or would like a demo via video call, we’re happy to help.
